Special Funds

26 Special Funds has been created since the establishment of ACT, 9 of which have already finished.
(The names indicated below are the names of the Special Funds at the time of establishment.)

Purpose
The Sumatra Japan-Indonesia Friendship Fund
(JPY 12M)
This fund was established by the Sumatra Japan-Indonesia Friendship Foundation (dissolved in 1995) in Medan, Sumatra in June 1980 to support education and development in Sumatra.
The Umemoto Memorial Fund for Dental Service in Asia
(JPY 30M)
The Umemoto Memorial Fund was established in June 1983 in memory of Professor Yoshio Umemoto, who provided dental care for Hansen's disease (Leprocy) patients both abroad and within Japan, to contribute to the advancement of mutual understanding between Japan and other Asian countries.
The Asia Medical Cooperation Fund
(JPY 50M)
This fund was established in July 1986 to promote medical care and public health activities in Asia.
The T. Watanabe Memorial Fund for Tropical Diseases
(JPY 25M)
This fund was established in January 1988 to realize the will of the late Mrs. Watanabe, wife of the late Dr. Toyosuke Watanabe, who dedicated his life to the medical science of tropical diseases, to promote medical care and public health in the Asian region.
The Masako Koike Memorial Fund
(JPY 10M)
The late medical doctor Masako Koike established the fund in May 1989 to provide funding for activities contributing to the improvement of medical care and public health in Asian countries.
The Yukawa Memorial Fund for Education
(JPY 111.938207M)
To realize the will of the late Mr. Yoshitoshi Yukawa, this special fund was established in May 1997 to promote education among children and youth in Asia.
The Fujie Mihara Memorial Fund
(JPY 50M)
To abide by the wishes of the late Ms. Fujie Mihara, the fund was established in April 1999 to assist the improvement of Health and Medicine as well as to promote education and local culture in Asia.
The Nobuaki and Michiko Yamada Memorial Fund
(JPY 30M)
The fund was established in September 2002 with endowment from medical doctor Nobuaki Yamada for the improvement of medicine and promotion of education in countries in Asia.
The Tokuko Fujita Memorial Fund
(JPY 29.473304M)
To realize the will of the late Ms. Tokuko Fujita, the fund was established in December 2005 to support the improvement of health and medicine as well as the education of children from poor families in Asia.
The Kyoko Mitsuyama Fund for Health
(JPY 10M)
The fund was established in July 2006 to contribute to the improvement of health, medicine and social welfare in Asia.
The Naoko Aono Memorial Fund for Education
(JPY 10M)
The fund was established in February 2007 to assist activities on education and youth development in Asia.
The Takashi Ihara Memorial Fund
(JPY 10M)
Dr. Yasutaka Ihara, one of Japan's leading mathematician and the Professor Emeritus of The University of Tokyo, established the fund in November 2008 to utilize his inheritance from his late father Mr. Takashi Ihara for the society in general.
Asian People's Partnership Support Fund
(JPY 20M)
The fund was established in August 2009 to support the mutual growth and development through the sharing of experiences, ideas and knowledge between the peoples of Japan and other countries in Asia where Japan caused great damage during World War II.
Support Fund for Asian Students in Japan
(JPY 138.57453M)
The fund was established in January 2012 to support activities that contribute to the social development of the Asian region. Its main purpose is to support students/trainees from other Asian countries who are studying in Japan by providing them opportunities to experience and learn about the current situation of the Japanese society through communication and interaction with Japanese people. In addition, it will support former students/trainees in applying the knowledge/techniques they learned in Japan in their own fields/mother country.
Chisa Takahashi Memorial Fund for Indonesian Education and Development
(JPY 20M)
The fund was established in February 2012 to provide educational support to youths who will contribute to the promotion of industry, culture, health and medicine, and social welfare in Indonesia, especially in Nusa Tengarra (eastern part of Indonesia).
Support Fund for Children in Asia
(JPY 20M)
This fund was established in May 2013 to implement projects that contribute to the development of impoverished children in Asia.
Support Fund for Farmers in Asia
(JPY 20M)
This fund was established in November 2013 to support projects that contribute to the self-help efforts towards livelihood improvement of poor farmers in Asia.

Sony Corporation established the fund in March 1999 for the promotion of education and local culture as well as youth development in Asia.

The N. Nagai Memorial Fund for Wells in Asia
(JPY 10M)
In August 1988, Mr. Nobutaka Nagai created this fund to contribute to the improvement of welfare and health in Asia, specifically through well construction to provide clean and safe drinking water.

The Tomiaki and Shizue Mochizuki Memorial Fund
(JPY 10M)
The fund was established in January 1989 to promote mutual understanding between Japan and developing countries in Asia through the provision of grants to projects that respond to the basic needs of poor people in these countries.

The T. Washino Memorial Fund
(JPY 10M)
The widow of Mr. Tsuneo Washino, established this fund in November 1988 on the second death anniversary of Mr. Washino. The fund aims to promote social, educational, cultural, and agricultural development as well as to improve health care, public sanitation, and social welfare.

The fund was established by Mr. Katsushi Koyanagi in March 2004 for the promotion of education and youth development.

The Haruhisa Yoshikawa Memorial Fund
(JPY 10M)
To abide by the wishes of the late Haruhisa Yoshikawa, former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Tokyo's, this fund was established in May 1982 to contribute to the promotion of activities on education, public health, and medical care in Asian countries.

The Yasuda Sugo Konno Kitane Memorial Fund for Education

In November 1994, former nurses Ms. Yoko Yasuda, Ms. Take Konno, and Ms. Fumie Kitane established this fund for the purpose of promoting education for Asia.

The M. Muya Memorial Fund for Education
(JPY 16.7M)
To realize the will of the late Ms. Miyoko Muya, the fund was established in January 2003 to contribute to the promotion of education and youth development in Asia.

The Daiwa Securities Group Tsunami Reconstruction Fund
(JPY 10M)
In response to the unprecedented damage in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India caused by the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami in December 2004, the fund was created in March 2005 by the Daiwa Securities Group, a Japanese private company, to assist tsunami victims in rebuilding their lives for ten years until 2014.
